I know it's not good for me, but seriously, I don't maintain this figure by watching what I eat.

Shout-Out To My Peeps

April 19, 2006

The Easter Bunny has come and gone, the frilly grass - in a variety of different colors has been scattered to the four winds, and the chocolate eggs are nothing but foil wrappers. What is left behind are the Peeps.

Peeps are the colored sugar covered marshmallow treats in the shapes of bunnies and chicks. They taste exactly how you imagine they do.

Not everyone views them as just a seasonal cavity inducing lump of marshmallowey goodness. There are those who have performed, shall we say, "unorthodox" experiments on the little fellas.

  • reaction to cold

  • reaction to heat

  • solubility testing

  • low-pressure environments

Not to mention the risk analysis.

I just like eating 'em.
maybe it's just me...

actually, I'm pretty sure it's just me.

It's not just you! Amy's Mom loves those things. I personally can't handle more than, like, one. But then, I've never had a big sweet-tooth.

Aha, I knew those peep experiments looked somewhat familiar:

Okay, maybe its that Canadian taste buds are extra-sensitive to over-processed food - or perhaps it is because my mother banned sugar from our house as a child (that meant no sugar on Cheerios - b/c there "less than a gram of sugar" still meant they had sugar)... but I think peeps - of any type original chick or bunny - and of any color --- pink, blue, yellow, purple --- taste like a chemical spill at a marshmallow factory. You know the marshmallow is in there but the chemicals have overtaken the flavor...

For that matter I don't even get into marshmallows except in rice krispie squares (that's rice krispie treats to our American folks) and random rare other occasions - due I'm quite sure to the flaming marshmallow attached to my face by a stick wielding creature in my childhood...

Many must like them because the come back year after year - I think they're the same ones...
